If you are looking to upgrade your old phone to a smartphone, but don’t want spend a fortune or be tied to a lengthy (and often expensive) contract, then this post might just be for you. The smartphone is becoming more essential due to its ability to let us do a lot of the tasks we used to do on our home PC. The term “budget smartphones” may seem a bit contradictory, but they have started to hit the market in the last couple of years, and are becoming ever more popular.

2. Huawei Ascend Y201

Next up is the Huawei Ascend Y201. This smartphone can be found at Tesco for a bargains price at the moment, let’s check out the specs. There is a 3.2mp camera, Android operating system, 256mb RAM, WiFi, and a 3.5″ Touchscreen.

3. Blackberry Curve 9320

If budget smartphones had a luxury model, this would be it. Sporting Balckberry’s messaging system, a 2.44 inch TFT screen, 3mp camera, wifi and GPS, this is certainly a feature-packed unit. Luckily, we have found a bargain that doesn’t break the bank.

5. Sony Experia Tipo

With this model from Sony, you certainly get a lot of tech for your money. Here are some of the key features: Android operating system, 3mp camera with geo-tagging, 3.2 inch scratch resistant touchscreen, 3g and wifi. This phone is also available in different colours.

6. Nokia Asha 300

Rounding up our list of budget smartphones is the Nokia Asha 300. The Asha line made the press recently when Nokia’s end of year financial report showed that it was outselling the more expensive Lumia series by two to one.
